Ethernet Services Manager (ESM)
Key Benefits
Accelerate Time to Market with Fast Network Build-Outs and Deployments
Building and deploying large-scale Carrier Ethernet service networks quickly and successfully is nearly impossible because of the lack of automation and OAM capabilities in existing management solutions. World Wide Packets’ ESM provides a unique, network-event-driven process that maximizes automation and delivers minimal to zero-touch OAM processes that dramatically accelerate network deployment and market rollout. Unlike other solutions that require days or weeks of lead time and several hours of intensive labor by highly skilled engineers, ESM automatically provisions, validates and tests standardized device and network resource configurations without operator intervention.
Reduce Time to Revenue with Zero-Touch Service Activation and Resource Provisioning
Why navigate a series of network maps and provisioning windows for service activation when low-touch activation wizards or zero-touch service templates can make the process effortless? ESM’s powerful service templates and activation scripts accelerate the configuration and activation of complex services across the network, speeding up revenue generation.
Maximize Service Availability with Automated Fault Isolation, Management and Service Restoration
The massive scale of Carrier Ethernet networks makes it extremely challenging to manage the continuous volume of network events that occur in a single network device. When the volume of network events from a single device is multiplied across the hundreds or thousands of devices distributed throughout a large network, it becomes impossible to manage these devices without comprehensive OAM automation.
With its intelligent fault detection and isolation capabilities, ESM provides a scalable, event-driven architecture that triggers “touchless” or automated repair processes to create a highly adaptive network that is self-healing. ESM includes comprehensive auditing and event tracking features for maintaining a detailed history of all events in the service network.
Assure Service Quality with End-to-End Service Monitoring and Validation
ESM supports a variety of Carrier Ethernet OAM capabilities including EOAM, CFM and Y.1731 to provide continuous monitoring, verification and assurance of services. With ESM, service providers can automatically configure end-to-end Service Assurance during the service provisioning process without having to manually define, configure and perform verification and test suites because ESM taps into the hard QoS implementation of World Wide Packets’ LightningEdge platforms.
ESM uses threshold crossing alarms to provide zero- and low-touch performance monitoring, enabling selective collection of performance data that is based on network or service condition requirements. It can also perform test suites and retrieve statistics based on a fixed schedule, polling intervals or on demand. These methods can be combined to satisfy any performance management or service assurance need.
Leverage Existing Systems and Processes with Northbound Mediation and Integration
ESM hides the complexities of a Carrier Ethernet service network, enabling northbound NMS and OSS applications to orchestrate and direct the service management process while the ESM platform handles the complexities of deploying, delivering and sustaining Carrier Ethernet services. The service oriented capabilities of ESM go far beyond element-centric fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security (FCAPS) management to deliver all the operational power of carrier NMS/OSS systems down to the virtual circuits and service ports used for delivering Carrier Ethernet services.
Provides Carrier-Grade Scalability and Reliability
ESM has been designed for maximum deployment flexibility to deliver carrier-grade scalability and reliability to network operators of any size. It can scale from simple, centralized configurations with a single server, agent and client in one device, to highly sophisticated configurations with distributed and hierarchical servers, distributed and partitioned agents and hundreds of clients.
ESM is also available in a Remote Management Edition, which enables network operators to deploy it in a single distributed configuration per region managed with a central ESM server that manages each regional network.
Provides Subscriber Self-Management through Managed Services Portal
For Business Services, ESM provides a Managed Services Portal that lets subscribers self-manage their network. Business Services subscribers can easily create and customize customer-specific views using XML. They can quickly change the entire look and feel of the interface – replace icons, labels, decide what to show, decide which statistics to provide. The Managed Services Portal gives Business Service subscribers real-time insight into Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and provides user audit trails for maximum management efficiency.
