LightningEdge® Service Concentration Switch Family

The World Wide Packets LightningEdge® Service Concentration Switch Series is a family of Ethernet switches delivering advanced carrier-class services optimized for cost-effective service delivery to residential or business subscribers. LightningEdge Service Concentration Switches may be configured with fiber or copper physical interfaces, redundant fans and pluggable redundant AC or DC power. All Service Concentration Switches implement World Wide Packets’ advanced LightningEdge Operating System (LE-OS) – the leading software infrastructure for resilient, flexible, and cost effective Ethernet Access in Metro networks and business LANs.

Supporting distribution of any combination of voice, video, or data services to network subscribers, LightningEdge Service Concentration Switches provide large-scale 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps Ethernet switching that maximizes revenue generation potential while reducing initial deployment costs and minimizing ongoing operating costs. LightningEdge Service Concentration Switches include advanced features such as guaranteed and explicit Quality of Service (QoS) for any application, rapid restoration of services in case of network or equipment problems, and advanced services such as World Wide Packets ChannelStream™ that enable large-scale multicast service delivery without the complexity, cost or service issues of a multicast-enabled router.

The LightningEdge Service Concentration Switch family includes the following switches:

  • LE-327 — 24 ports 100 Mbps SFP optics + 4 ports 1 Gbps SFP optics, 2 power supply slots, AC or DC power, 1 RU
  • LE-427 — 16 ports 1 Gbps SFP optics, 2 power supply slots, AC or DC power, 1 RU

Advanced hardware design combined with the comprehensive features in the LightningEdge Operating System enable World Wide Packets Service Concentration Switches to be configured as powerful aggregation devices to concentrate and integrate Ethernet traffic from edge devices.
