Layer 2 Virtual Private Networks (L2VPN)
Layer 2 Control Frame Transport
A service provider’s L2VPN network must transport the subscriber’s Layer 2 protocols transparently. This enables the subscriber to realize all the features and benefits of their network.
World Wide Packets Layer 2 Control Frame Transport allows the service provider L2VPN-aware switches to transparently carry customer Layer 2 control frames, such as spanning tree Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) or proprietary protocol frames such as Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP).

In the figure above, Layer 2 Control Frame Transport allows the subscriber network to fully utilize all transport paths, enabling full redundancy between all the subscriber sites, even if the paths consist of multiple service provider links.
